Hello Daddy!
We want to know you.
And be close to you.
Please show us how.
Make everything in the world right again.
And in our hearts, too.
Do what is best - just like you do in heaven,
And please do it down here, too.
Please give us everything we need today.
Forgive us just as we forgive other people
when they hurt us.
Rescue us! We need you.
We don't want to keep running away
and hiding from you.
Keep us safe from our enemies.
You're strong, God.
You can do whatever you want.
You are in charge.
Now and forever and for always!
We think you're great!
Yes we do!

(The Lord's Prayer from Matthew 6
as paraphrased on page 226 of the JesusStorybookBible)

LOVE the JSB in our house, too! Last fall I took a small group of 7th/8th graders to meet the author...she was excellent. A truly inspired book. I gave it away to lots of grown-ups this past Christmas.
Love reading your blog, Tara, and do pray for your family and Heartline and Haiti.
Oh, and I'm so glad to see those Red Sox caps in your pictures. ;)

Sometimes I think that is the Bible I need to be reading!! Jesus says to come to him like a child!
Love you guys!

That picture is positively stunning, and what a beautiful rendition of a familiar prayer - thanks for sharing!

This is awesome. I've never heard of the JSB until now, but I'm really glad to have discovered it.

btw. i don't know if it matters to you to know this, but i'm approaching finishing my phd - approaching - i hope november/december. after i finish i hope to do a post doc for a couple of years. people ask me 'what then?'.. the mission field is something i'm now thinking about. it's been through reading your blog and others' i've followed from here that have lead to this thought. i know it's not an easy decision, but it's one i'm considering. thank you for planting this seed - no matter what happens to it.

We read it to all our kids (ages 3 to 9) and they all love it. Truthfully, the wording and paraphrasing in this Bible is emotionally moving and we love it. Troy cries every time he reads the crucifixion story to the kids. The illustrations are really good too ... get one!

We love the Jesus Storybook Bible too. We've actually been reading it with all of our kids (ages 5-12). I love how each story (even the O.T. ones) points to Jesus as the rescuer. I highly recommend this book for ALL ages!

We love the Jesus Storybook Bible as well, and even gave it to nieces and nephews this past Christmas.

We love it too, perfect for our newer kiddos (home a year today, yeah) to whom the stories are all new to. Thanks for reminding us all!

Just got a copy of the JSB for my kids (ages 5, 3, and 3 months) after seeing MANY positive reviews. They love it and so do I. I find myself reading ahead, because I've never seen a children's bible (or even most adult books) that get the focus and purpose of the gospel so well.
