The Way God Works ...

First, I need to backtrack a bit on the whole Mme Felius story.
`
You all know we were suckers and we thought $800 was a good surgery quote. We got too big for our britches and started planning how it would all work.
`
Once we figured out we were dumb, we then came to tell you that Healing Hands for Haiti could do it for $3,000.
`
Adding together all that was pledged back when we first asked two weeks ago with the others who wanted to help even after our mess-ups, we came up to $2300.
`
While that was not enough to move her and do surgery --- Troy felt it was time. He wanted to take a leap of faith. He tried to move her Thursday but Haiti got in the way, so Friday it was.
`
I waver and I wonder but I have always felt that Troy has a good sense of the Lord's leading and I trust him as a leader of our family. So when Troy went to move her without the money I figured God must know what He was doing. (That, or Troy was gonna get us in big trouble)
;) Hee hee.
`
Troy called home pretty emotional yesterday. He said he was not going to let himself cry but that he was VERY glad he moved her out of General. The people (employees) at General had told her that they did not need to clean up her corner of the room or her space because she had "rich white people" helping her. They were jealous or whatever so they were not being kind to her at all. They even planned to charge Troy $6,000 Haitian Dollars for something that costs half of that --- they were figuring out ways to get something for themselves.
`
Mme Felius shared these stories after the move yesterday. You can see why she felt thrilled to be moved, she was the outcast in her hospital room. This is a very soft spoken, kind lady - she attends church each Sunday, she helps out in the kitchen if one of the cooks is sick or gone -- she is not the least bit demanding or difficult. All this time in General being treated poorly, she never said anything about it until she was moved.
`
This morning we went up to $2350 pledged. The surgeon told Troy to come talk to him - we were hoping it would or could still happen today ... still unsure of the rest of the money or if it would come in time.
`
The surgery DID NOT happen today. The two sons and husband showed up to give blood (even though they are afraid it will make them sick or tired) and they did what Troy asked, but they did it three hours too late.
`
In the end, the surgeon could not get the blood he needed unless he replaced it. He tried and had her prepped and ready, but it was not to be.
`
Troy was just there and everything is set for 8am Monday morning. The blood is all fine, the surgeon is ready and has all the tools and a recent x-ray so he knows what to expect.
`
I just hung up the phone with Troy - he was a bit down that it did not happen today but said he felt good about Monday. I checked e-mail and then called Troy back to share this super cool thing with him ... (copy of e-mail just received)

don't know if you know any Jason Upton music. I like him very much. he has a song called Silence, about the Spirit living inside us with that still small voice. I've been sitting here listening to this song this afternoon over and over. Yeah, I'm a little strange that way. it talked to me about radical, raging trust in God and who He is, and living my life as if I REALLY believed in trusting Him. Long story short, the check is for $700, in the mail today, please take care of this woman. sometimes growth is painful...but the peace is worth it. God bless you and yours, your new baby, and all you do. bye.

These are the times where I am so humbled by the love of people and the love of Christ. I know it should NOT surprise me -- but it always does. I called Troy - he is giddy too. If each person who pledged sends their money in we should end up at $3,050.00
God is good! He provides. How silly we are to ever think otherwise.
`
Remember to cover Mme Felius and her surgeon in prayer on Monday morning. We believe she will walk again.
`
Excited & Humbled,
Tara
