A Few Things from the Weekend

Va va voom.

Friday night Troy took notice of my "Five minutes of whining" post. We ditched the kids for two hours alone at a nearby beach restaurant. It was very fun. He really has quite a bit to say when given the chance to speak to me. A lot has happened since we last talked in mid-November. ;-)
`
Saturday was pretty fun too. I went running (in Port) with Beth while Troy went to worship-team rehearsal. Beth is one of my very favorite people to talk to here, right after Troy. When Troy was finished John and Beth treated us to lunch at a nearby restaurant. It felt very American to me. Meeting friends for lunch, that is. Liked it. Had fun. Want to do it again before '08.
`
Noah put on great theatrics for our departure on Saturday, it really was a sight to behold. Four or five of the employees were gathered round to watch the show and shake their heads at such a poorly raised little blan child. I think it is a sign unto me that I ought to leave the kid once in a while.
`
When we got home Saturday afternoon Noah sat on my lap for about 30 minutes saying "You leff me, I am sad at you." It didn't matter that I was home and holding him, he still felt the need to spoon giant heaps of guilt upon my head. Whatever kid. Grow up.
`
No, don't ... I'm kidding -I want you to stay two forever.
`
This morning Troy needed to have the visiting Brit at the airport by 7am. That means leaving home at 5am. Which means waking kids up at 4am. Which means we did not go with them. After dropping Brit off he went to church to play guitar and enjoy a Noah-free church service. He might have actually heard what John was preaching about. Which is always a bonus.
`
The late part of our week was high-emotion. On the village level, two ladies died within 24 hours of each-other. Because there are big extended families in most villages, this means that between the two deaths, three-quarters of the village are preparing for a funeral. They were both very old ladies though, and even by American standards they lived long lives. We may need to close the feeding program for one day if the two funerals fall on the same day.
`
On a more personal and emotional front, Troy found Phoebe Thursday. Yep. He did. We are waiting to meet with the birth mom to clear up a few things, so for now we just know that she is alive, healthy, and darn cute. We pray that the Lord will provide the answers for us through the mom so that we know what to do. Phoebe is not with her mom, but is staying in an institution for now.
`
So... we're waiting to meet up with her birth-mom and confirm everything before we move ahead. We want to be sure we are not pushing the Lord's will aside, and just doing what we want to do. Now that we know where she is, and have seen her, the waiting is torture. But we're waiting anyway. Pushing God's timing or His answers is never a bright idea. We're not going there.
`
If you want to see how lovely she is, scroll down to the photo of the baby with the same HUGE eyes as Hope. That's her! She is nine weeks old now. I want to kiss those cheeks.

PS- Please continue to pray for Lori and her family. We don't know more we just know they need our love and support.
