About the North Carolina Dog who is being tossed aside by his owners ... he goes by "Smudge" for whatever reason. It seems the neighbors had already used Mud, Skid, and Fudge, leaving the Sexton family to take what was left.
He was once a male, but due to a cruel operation, now struggles with his identity and really just wants to be accepted for who he/it is. The owners note that he/it is no slacker. He has goals and aspirations. Mainly, "He has big dreams of someday belonging to a family who will actually let him sit on the couch."
